Brand Design for a AI Application
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Building a brand from zero in the absence of a defined audience
The project involved building a complete brand identity for a startup at its earliest stage, prior to market entry. The scope included brand strategy, logo design, visual identity system, and a comprehensive brand guideline. The primary objective was to create a scalable and differentiated brand that could resonate with a yet undefined target audience, while providing the founders with clarity on positioning and communication.
THE CHALLENGE
Defining a brand without a clearly defined user
"The main challenge was the absence of a clearly defined target audience and positioning."
While the stakeholders had a general vision for the product, there was no validated understanding of:
- who the core users would be
- how they interact with digital products
- their level of trust in emerging technologies such as AI
- the motivations behind their usage patterns
Additionally, the brand needed to be flexible enough to adapt to multiple potential user segments, while still maintaining a strong and recognizable identity from day one.
OUR APPROACH
From Data and Strategy to Design Execution
Stakeholder Interviews
We conducted in-depth discussions with the founding team to understand their vision, assumptions, and business objectives, establishing an initial strategic baseline.
User Research
In collaboration with a polling company, we surveyed 105+ participants across 24+ questions to uncover digital behaviors, usage patterns, and attitudes toward AI and digital tools.
Data Synthesis
We used AI-assisted analysis to process and cluster research data, identifying key behavioral patterns and recurring themes across user segments.
Proto-Persona
Based on these insights, we developed a proto-persona that defined the target user profile and guided all subsequent branding decisions.
Market Analysis
We analyzed the competitive landscape and industry trends to identify positioning opportunities and differentiation gaps.
Concept Generation
We developed approximately 20 initial logo concepts, exploring a wide range of visual directions aligned with the emerging strategy.
Concept Refinement
Through iterative collaboration with stakeholders, we narrowed the exploration to three strong directions and refined them into polished design solutions.
Identity System
The selected direction was expanded into a complete brand system, including primary, secondary, and responsive logo variations.
Stakeholder Alignment
Final concepts were reviewed and validated with stakeholders to ensure alignment with both strategic goals and visual expectations.
Brand Guidelines
We delivered a 60-page brand book covering logo usage, color systems, typography, imagery, voice, and real-world applications to ensure consistent implementation.

FINAL RESULT
A scalable, research-driven brand ready for market entry
The result is a cohesive and flexible brand identity built on both stakeholder vision and validated user insights.
The system provides:
- a clear and adaptable visual language
- consistency across all touchpoints
- a strong foundation for future growth
By grounding creative decisions in research and strategy, the brand is positioned not only to stand out visually, but to remain relevant as the company evolves.
